Or simply looking for a central location to gather friends, family or colleagues? For all these needs, there’s just one place to go: our campsite near Châteauroux!
Daniel, Claire and their children welcome you to their campsite in La Châtre, 40 km south of Châteauroux, from early April to late September. We welcome you with a smile to make you feel at home…just like at home. As adopted residents of the Berrichon region, having previously lived in Canada for 10 years, we can’t wait to show you around George Sand’s homeland and the Vallée Noire.
Our aim? That you find pleasure and serenity in staying at Val Vert en Berry, in a relaxing atmosphere, with just the right amount of entertainment to liven up everyday life, especially for children. There’s table soccer, table tennis, a mini-farm and an inflatable playground. In high season, a Children’s Club organizes fun and inclusive activities for them to meet and make friends.
The entire team is at your disposal to assist you and suggest the activities and visits best suited to your desires. And there’s no shortage of them. If you like sport and walking, the Indre department is criss-crossed bycountless walking, cycling and horse-riding routes, many of which start or end at the campsite entrance… If you’re more interested in exploring the region’s historical heritage, the Berry region is full of beautiful, often little-known surprises.
At our family campsite in the Indre region, the emphasis is on relaxation, simplicity and closeness to nature: you’ll appreciate the diversity of tree species, the hardwood rentals, and the Indre flowing peacefully below. Families, couples or groups can all gather around the swimming pool, boulodrome or barbecue and enjoy unforgettable moments.
Eco-tourism and authenticity: our actions for the environment
Close to nature through its proximity to the local flora and fauna, Val Vert en Berry is also close to nature through its commitment to preserving this biodiversity.
Since 2015, we have been committed to a sustainable development approach that guides our choices in terms of landscaping, energy (insulation, waste management and energy consumption) and accommodation (wooden rentals). In fact, our efforts have been rewarded with theEuropean Ecolabel.
Our family-run campsite near Châteauroux has also been awarded the “Accueil Vélo” and “Base VTT” labels, and offers cyclists the necessary infrastructure to welcome them and their two-wheelers, just a few pedal strokes from the Cyclo Bohème and Saint-Jacques de Compostelle via Vézelay cycle routes. Special rates are reserved for hikers and cyclists on our bare pitches, in the same spirit of encouraging the practice of “gentle itinerancy”.
Finally, in recognition of our high standards, our 4-star campsite has been awarded Camping Qualité status. A guarantee of seriousness and satisfaction based on strict, precise specifications and regular audits. Only 12 campsites in the Centre-Val de Loire region have been awarded this status, and only one in Indre. That’s us!

Looking for a gentle, simple and authentic way to spend your vacation? Our new mini-farm invites young and old to discover the pleasure of direct contact with animals, in a natural and soothing setting.
Designed above all for families and young children, this activity offers real moments of complicity. Goats and chickens evolve in an enclosure fitted out with a small house, easily accessible and secure. Here, we take our time: observing, approaching, listening… and, above all, sharing.
Children can enter the enclosure, always under adult supervision, to meet the animals. They can get up close, watch them evolve freely and, at certain times, take part in feeding them. It’s a fun, educational experience that awakens curiosity and gently teaches respect for all living things.
It’s often one of the favorite moments of the holiday: a calm, joyful and sincere moment, away from screens, where children simply marvel. Between laughter, discoveries and small everyday gestures, the mini-farm becomes a place of shared family memories.
Everything for your camping comfort
At Val Vert en Berry, enjoy a relaxing, authentic setting, ideal for disconnecting from everyday life, from April to September. The campsite, set in a lush green setting, is the ideal place to concentrate on what’s essential: your well-being and that of your loved ones. However, simplicity and serenity are not necessarily synonymous with rusticity. We offer a range of services designed to make your stay even more comfortable.
So, after a day of sightseeing or hiking in the Berry region, relax in the heated outdoor pool to give your body a well-deserved rest. If you’re feeling thirsty, you can quench your thirst on the restaurant terrace. For the more energetic, if you still have a little energy left, come and expend it in our outdoor fitnessarea or on the petanque court… As for those who never run out of breath, the children, they can offer their parents a truce by climbing the inflatable structure to their heart’s content.
Additional services and rentals
At Le Val Vert, we offer a wide range of services and rentals for a comfortable stay. Our 58 pitches accommodate tents, caravans and motorhomes, while 2 Moorea tents, 4 wooden eco-cabins and 6 mobile homes offer warm, fully-equipped accommodation. There’s something for every taste and budget. Our accommodations are also suitable for groups, and we offer solutions for your private or business events 40 km from Châteauroux.
We also offer a full range ofpractical rental options. So you can tailor your experience to your needs. A coin-operated laundry is available 24 hours a day. For those who like their baguette and croissant “fresh” from the oven, a bread and pastry drop-off service is available. Finally, the campsite’s small shop allows you to stock up on essentials as well as a selection of local artisan products.
For the little ones, we offer baby kits for rental to make life easier for parents and lighten their luggage: cot, highchair, crockery, potty, etc. – the essentials you need for everyday life. We also rent single sheets, or a more complete Travel Flower package, including tea towels and cleaning products.
Last but not least, the Le Val Verre restaurant is on hand to concoct fresh, appetizing, quality cuisine. So sit back and let us whip up a tasty meal without even leaving the campsite. You can also order a snack and take it away with you in your rental, on your pitch or on the road…
Shopping nearby
This family campsite in the Indre region offers you the best of both worlds: a rural setting backed by a town of 3,000 inhabitants. You can enjoy the peace and quiet and a view of the woods, just 2 kilometres from the town centre’s amenities and shops.
Markets and supermarkets, shops, craftspeople, pharmacies and tobacconists offer a wide range of products and services, ensuring you have everything you need during your stay.
On the leisure front, there’s a library, bookshops, cinema, skatepark, restaurants, sports fields and playgrounds to choose from. If that wasn’t enough, Châteauroux is just 30 minutes away , offering museums, theaters and brand-new sports facilities.
